The Land Where Safari Lives Forever The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most iconic safari destination—a place where wildlife, landscapes, and ancient
Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s most diverse and picturesque parks, famous for its dramatic scenery and unique wildlife experiences. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, the park is best known for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, and the shimmering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara itself, which attract thousands of flamingos and other birdlife. Though smaller than other parks, Manyara offers an incredible variety of ecosystems—from dense forests and grassy floodplains to hot springs and swamps—all packed into a compact, easily explored area.
The park’s grasslands and floodplains are teeming with wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and wildebeest. Keep your eyes on the trees, too—Manyara is one of the few places in Africa where lions are regularly seen lounging on branches. Along the lakeshore, watch for dazzling flocks of flamingos, pelicans, and over 400 other bird species, making Manyara a birdwatcher’s paradise.
The Great Rift Valley escarpment towers dramatically over the park, offering breathtaking vistas, especially at sunrise and sunset. Deep in the park’s southern reaches, you’ll find the Maji Moto hot springs, bubbling with geothermal energy and surrounded by lush vegetation—a hidden gem for visitors seeking something off the beaten path.
What makes Lake Manyara unique is its compact size packed with rich biodiversity and spectacular scenery. From tree-climbing lions and massive baboon troops to its iconic flamingo-lined lake, Manyara offers a safari experience that’s both accessible and rewarding. Its varied landscapes—forests, grasslands, swamps, and soda lake—showcase Tanzania’s natural beauty on a smaller, more intimate scale.
At Shafino Wildlife Safaris, we ensure you uncover all of Manyara’s highlights, whether you’re tracking lions, watching elephants emerge from the forest, or marveling at the colors of the Rift Valley.
Lake Manyara offers superb game drives, birdwatching tours, and visits to local Maasai villages. Adventurous travelers can also enjoy canopy walks on a suspended bridge through the forest treetops, offering a unique perspective of the park’s lush greenery and wildlife.
Lake Manyara National Park is best known for its tree-climbing lions, massive baboon troops, and the flamingo-covered waters of Lake Manyara itself.
